High Visibility Standards
At Quality Winter Clothing we have garments that have been both
constructed and tested to comply with, the most appropriate International
High Visibility standards, Australian and European in the case of High
Visibility, the combination, representing INTERNATIONAL BEST PRACTICE,
in our opinion.
In Australia we have High Visibility Standards that relate to clothing
- AS/NZS 4602 High Visibility Safety Garments describes
the design of garments that constitute a High Visibility Safety Garment.
AS/NZS 1906.4 Retroreflective materials and devices for road
traffic control purposes. Part 4: High visibility materials for
safety garments
The standard specifies the photometric, colorimetric and physical
property requirements for high-visibility materials for outdoor use,
or retroreflective materials for use at night or in other dark conditions,
or a combination of the two, to be used for the manufacture of or incorporation
into, industrial safety garments designed to be worn in situations where
the wearer needs to be highly visible.
Acceptance of material from overseas Background material complying
with EN 471 is acceptable for use in Australia and New Zealand as Class
F material in all situations where colours for normal use as specified
in Clause 2.3(a) and Table 2.1 are required.
EN 471 Specification for High-visibility warning clothing.
The European standard, has considered water penetration for garments
to be worn in foul and/or cold weather, so waterproofing is a facet
of EN 471 but not an issue for AS1906.4.
As at the date of writing all Quality Winter Clothing High-visibility
products are water resistant.
Where either the material or the pattern is Not To High Visibility
Standards, then even if the colour is Fluorescent or otherwise, then
that garment is just another pretty coloured one and should not be used
by workers in a high risk situation.
So in summary, unless a garment states compliance to at least one of
the above mentioned
Standards, even if it is very similar to one that does, there is a very
large chance that the
garment does not comply, as there are costs of compliance.
Guidelines for Quality Winter Clothing products compliance:
Complies as stated on the label of the garment as well as within supporting
documentation.
